Mother’s day was first celebrated in 1908 when a woman by the name of Anna Jarvis held a memorial service in honor of her mother for the first time in America. Jarvis worked hard to get the holiday recognized by the government, but she was successful by 1914. Today mother’s day is celebrated all over the world, though different countries celebrate mothers day at different times of the year, they do set aside a day to recognize all mothers.
