So, sorry to break it to ya, but you are by far not the first to get the radical idea of putting metal in your face or body.  But don’t let that get you down, the fact is, many people throughout history have felt the need to decorate their bodies with jewelry as well as ink, paint and clothes. It’s only human, and it can take a lot of dedication, but only you can decide if it’s worth it. It really is an amazing thing to think that people from all around the world, coming from completely different walks of life, culture and social status choose to decorate themselves this way.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few people who have yet to realize that body jewelry is not a way for young people to rebel, but a way for anyone to express themself. Don’t let that dictate who you should be, or how you should look be yourself above all. If there are reasons why you may be judged for having body jewelry, such as issues at work, don’t worry, there are ways to disguise and hide your body modifications if necessary. In fact, I get away with having a septum, vertical labret, and 1/2 inch plugs even though my work does not allow them. The easiest thing about facial piercings is if you have them for long enough, you can remove them during work hours and no ones the wiser. Just don’t forget to put those babies back in at home! I also like to wear my clear horseshoe in my septum sometimes because I can just flip it up into my nose and again, no one can see anything. Plugs can be harder, especially for the guys out there. You can purchase flesh toned plugs and try that, or for the ladies at least, go with a full and conservative design, preferably wood or something ‘tasteful’. I wear wood flower plugs that look like round earrings from the front. You can check out some clear retainers here. Good luck out there, and remember it’s better to be true to yourself than to fake being someone you’re not.
