An Artist's Depiction of Sagittarius in Body Paint

We have definitely progressed since that cheesy pickup line first emerged back in the 1970’s! However, as evolution works to bring us a gradual, more enlightened change, our obsession with the zodiac has done anything but fade into darkness. No matter your sign, no matter your religion or spiritual preference, most people do feel a special kinship with their particular sign. It’s just a little part of our individual identities. What better way to express yourself than with a bold piece of body jewelry with your sign on it?

Zodiac Glyph Symbols

Astrology has a very long, ancient history. It was used in many different ancient cultures, such as the Indians, with their Ayurvedic astrology. The Mayans did as well- and with 2012 approaching, there has been even more media focus on their infamous calendar, which supposed, astrologically, depicts our end of days. The original Babylonian zodiac was crafted of 13 signs, connected to the 13 moons of the year. The current standard of astrology hails from Hellenistic Europe, and is based on the Greek/ Roman format. Dictated by the gods and goddesses, who reside upon the heavens of Mt. Olympus, the Western zodiac takes its direction from them. The current names are Latin, and each have their own constellation drafted in the sky, one month per year.

The twelve sigs are: Aries (March 21- April 20) Taurus (April 21- May 20) Gemini (May 21- June 20) Cancer (June 21- July 22) Leo (July 23- August 22) Virgo (August 23- September 22) Libra (September 23- October 23) Scorpio (October 24- November 21) Sagittarius (November 22- December 21) Capricorn (December 22- January 19) Aquarius (January 20- February 19) Pisces (February 20- March 20). Each sign is governed by a particular planet, which corresponds to a particular deity of the Hellenistic pantheon.

Wearing your zodiac symbol on your body, on your body jewelry or traditional jewelry, is a really fun way to show off your uniqueness! Your sign may be among the other 11 in the zodiac, but it is yours! You can find really awesome tongue rings and barbells, which can be used in so many different piercings, decorated with zodiac glyphs. Also really popular are our zodiac belly rings, which add a touch of individuality to a very common piercing spot. And, if you are wanting to be really bold, whether or not you are pierced, you can display your sign on your neck with a zodiac pendant. Or how about sterling silver studs in your ears for a little less drama? No matter your sign, you can show it off with pride in so many ways with your jewelry!
