Body piercings have been practiced in a number of different cultures for literally centuries upon centuries now, though in this day and age, for many of us they are more about making a fashion statement and becoming a fashion accessory. Getting a piercing offers us a number of advantages and benefits, including, but not limited to: enhancing our appearance, giving us a sense of liberation, and allowing us to express ourselves by making bold fashion statements. Unfortunately, as fantastic as body piercings are, they aren’t always too practical, and like most things in life, there are downsides and drawbacks associated with them. Although the ears are arguably the most common body parts which we can get pierced, in reality we can pierce pretty much any part of our body that we like, but again, this isn’t always viable or practical. A great way around this however, and getting the best of both worlds if you like, is to wear fake body piercings and jewellery. Here we’ll be looking at a few fake and non-piercing body jewelry options, before looking at three reasons you may wish to wear fake body piercings rather than opting for the real thing right away.
Fake and non-piercing body jewelry options – Before we look at a few of the main benefits of fake piercings and body jewelry, first off let’s take a look at some of the more popular fake and non-piercing body jewelry options available to you. Some of the most popular fake piercings and pieces of body jewelry include:
- Magnetic earrings – These earrings are very cleverly made so that they are held in place by specially designed magnetic backings allowing you to get the look of pierced ears, without actually having to commit to a real piercing.
- Fake flesh plugs – Though these earrings do require pierced ears, the main idea behind these earrings is that they give you the look of stretched ears, minus the pain, and, well stretched skin. These plugs are designed to fit into regular ear piercings, but will look just like real stretched piercings.
- Fake nose rings – These nose rings are easy to fit and very comfortable to wear. They come in a number of different colors, shapes, and sizes, with some just looking like a standard ring and others coming complete with brightly colored jewels.
- Fake belly button jewelry – These specially designed jewels look almost identical to real belly button piercings, yet they don’t require you to actually pierce your skin, which ensures you are pain free and not at risk of infections etc. You simply glue them in place, and rinse away the special body glue once you’re finished.
Reasons to wear fake body jewelry and piercings – Now we’ve looked at some of the more popular options currently available, let’s now take a look at a few of the main reasons you may wish to consider wearing fake body jewelry and piercings.
- Pain free – Let’s face it, having a piercing hurts as you are literally making a hole in your flesh. The great thing about fake piercings and jewelry however, is that you don’t need to pierce your skin, and you therefore don’t have to endure the pain. Belly button piercings for example, are pretty painful yet with fake belly button jewelry, you simply apply a little body glue to your belly button, stick on your chosen piece of jewelry, and hey presto.
- No risk of infection or complications – Many new piercings often become infected or inflamed and cause a variety of extremely unpleasant side effects that are not only very painful and uncomfortable for you, but are also pretty gross in the process. The great thing about fake piercings, is that as there is no real open wound underneath the piercing, there is no chance of it becoming infected so you don’t have to worry about swelling, pain, itching, tenderness, inflammation, seepage, and pus.
- Try before you buy – Another fab reason you may want to consider fake piercings is that they allow you to basically try before you buy. If you are thinking of getting your nose pierced for example, before you go ahead and get the piercing, you could wear a fake nose ring and see how it looks on you. Not only do you get an idea of how it will look on you, you also get an idea of how other people will react to it. For example, if you get a lot of compliments on it and people talking about how much it suits you, that may be an added incentive to take the plunge and get your nose pierced for real.
