Why You Should Never Get Turnt Up before Getting a Piercing
Many people think of getting a piercing as a pretty wild thing to do but when it comes to actually obtaining a body piercing, you must be willing to do through the process without fear. If someone you know has a body piercing story that starts with, “well I’d had a lot to drink…”, understand that is NEVER a good way to start any type of body modification story.
That said, intoxication and piercing shouldn’t go together, contrary to popular belief getting a piercing while turnt up is never a good idea.
There are many reasons for this, but below we’ve outlined a few of them for you so that you can make a sober decision to get pierced and not worry about needing a drink to numb the pain!
Drinking Won’t Calm Your Nerves
It’s only natural to have some fear and anxiety before getting a piercing especially if it’s your first. Many people are calm until they get into the chair and many people think that a drink will help calm their nerves and they’ll be in a better position to get it done. The only problem with this is that drinking reduces your inhibitions which mean that great idea you had may not seem so great after the fact when you wake up the next morning.
Intoxication is culturally thought to reduce anxiety when it, in fact, amplifies fear. That kind of psychological state makes everything seem more intense and frightening, so everything from the needle used to the amount of pain you feel could in fact be a lot worse.
It Won’t Help With the Pain
Alcohol is thought to ease the pain but if you’re in a poor state of mind as mentioned above, then all alcohol is going to do is decrease your ability to function correctly. Many people assume that their piercing specialist will numb the area beforehand; this is not the case as they are not even legally allowed to administer anything of the sort.
Also in order to do so, they would have to inject a substance into you before using another needle to pierce you, so that’d be twice the amount of discomfort necessary!
Alcohol increases brain perception so if you were to have a bad piercing experience while drunk you’d feel a lot worse about it than if you were sober because you’d have an understanding of the situation. It’s best to find a professional piercer with experience as they’ll be able to put you at ease and get the job done quickly, minimizing your discomfort.
Mental Impairments
Your comprehension and focus decrease when you’re intoxicated and this not only affects your ability to make an informed decision about getting a piercing, it also affects your understanding of the information you’ll be given both before and after your piercing. What’s entailing in the procedure itself and also how to correctly care for your piercing afterward.
Some of these things may include precautions needed at work, during exercise, engaging in sexual activities, and exposure to the sun such as on vacation and how it may inhibit your regular body care and hygiene. These factors are often not even considered by sober clients so if you were drunk, do you think you’d remember all the information given to you?
No Pain, No Gain
This should have reminded you, it’s better to make getting a piercing a sober experience that you can think through, ask questions and be fully in control of – if all goes well the chances of you wanting to go back for more is likely – opposed to waking up with regrets and a hangover, that’s no fun!
And remember, nothing worth while is free of pain – “No pain, No Gain” as the saying goes. Leave the drinks behind at the bar, where they belong and get your piercing because you love it and want it and can understand the pain associated with the piercing as a rite of passage. This goes for all body modifications, not just body piercings. If you still want a piercing but is having a strong reaction or desire to avoid the pain, be sure to do your research and learn more about the piercings. We often fear what we do not know, so it could be a simple matter of knowing more about the particular piercing, watching other people’s experiences, or simply understanding the industry’s rigorous safety guidelines. If all else fails and you still have quite a bit of apprehension on having a piercing done, try non-piercing alternatives.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Idea Book To Show Off the Ones You Got” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-heart” color=”blue” add_icon=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4548″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fopor-01-peach.html||target:%20_blank”][vc_single_image image=”4551″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fk10249.html||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4547″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fpsa378.html||target:%20_blank”][vc_single_image image=”4550″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fdabubeburisi.html||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”4552″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fbi34.html||target:%20_blank”][vc_single_image image=”4549″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_btn title=”SHOP NOW” shape=”square” color=”primary” align=”center” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bodyjewelry.com%2Fja15913.html||target:%20_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_separator color=”blue”][vc_custom_heading text=”Follow us for Piercing Inspiration” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:center|color:%231e73be”][vc_column_text][instagram-feed][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
